Russell has been so busy lending us his paws to pack the incoming orders at Gobbledy Towers, that we gently reminded him recently that it has been a fair while since he recommended a new book to us. So, while we were all taking a bit of a breather before the craziness of World Book Month, we were delighted when he unexpectedly popped up from behind a bookcase one day holding a copy of Wild Child by Dara McAnulty!

This impressively chunky book might at first be mistaken for a straightforward picture storybook, but it is much more than that. It is a wonderful exploration and celebration of the natural world and all of the magnificent wildlife you can find nearby. The book takes us on a journey through a back garden and then out to the woodlands, the uplands, a riverbank and beyond. Our guide is Dara McAnulty, an award-winning young writer and naturalist, whose profound love of nature seeps into each page.

We really liked the way the book blends facts about birds, trees, plants, insects etc. with some cool poetry and practical info on nature projects. There are plenty of great illustrations on every page and even though some of the material is aimed at younger children, we think this book would suit any child up 18, that is either wildlife and nature crazy or for those who would like something to inspire them to get more engaged with it.

We think Russell picked a cracker, you can pick up this large deluxe book for a special Gobbledy Price of just £5 (rrp £12.99) while stocks last.
